Nikon D3200

The new Nikon D3200 has been announced. I just want to explain why most photographers should care about this camera. This is a great starting camera for entry level photographer to DSLR.

I am going to post a few bullets about the camera specs wise, and explain each why you should care.

  • Starting with the 24.2 megapixel DX format APS-C sensor.
    • Basically this is great for getting higher resolution pictures, and if you ever do have to crop the image, you may be able to stay higher than 12 megapixels.
    • This is also a DX or cropped sensor format camera.
  • Can shoot at 4 Frames per second.
    • This is great for high speed shoot, and bust mode. I usually use the higher FPS for sports, or action shots.
  • Video at 1920 x 1080 (30,25, 24 fps), 1280 x 720 (60, 50 fps), 640 x 424 (30, 25 fps).
    • 1080p video will be smooth a clear.
    • 720p you can record slow motion video.
  • External mic input.
    • This is so you can use wireless mics and different microphones for better sound quality.
  • Built in Focus Motor
    • This is great for buying older lenses that don't have the motors built in. Basically to buy cheaper lens which will still Auto focus on the camera.

The final update to the camera, (which I feel is one of the coolest updates) the WU-1a dongle.

This dongle will allow wifi on the camera, along with being able to view/transfer pictures on an Android device. This will be great for using a tablet as a larger screen to preview the pictures.

I think this might be the new standard for DSLRs, I can't see the Nikon D5200 offering so much to pull users away from this camera.
